The American Gold Eagle was first released in 1986.
The purity is 22 karat gold. American Eagles are
authorized by the United States Congress and
backed by the U.S. Mint. The obverse depicts a
modified rendition of the Saint Gaudens double
eagle. The reverse depicts a family of eagles, the
weight and denomination. Note that American
Gold Eagles can be used to fund IRA investments.
