Carved Bone Lime Container
A container for lime powder made from bone and topped with a carved wooden stopper. They shared betel leaf nut quid, which is a pinch of powdered lime, pepper, leaves from the sireh plant, and a slice of the nut of the pinang palm, as a sign of hospitality and good will.
Each container is carved with a unique combination of anthropomorphic, zoomorphic, and geometric patterns. Men carry them in their traditional cloth bag with their pinang nuts, other betel chewing ingredients, and a cow whistle.
