Gilt Buddha

Burmese wood, lacquered and finished with layers of gilt, is often used in Buddhist statues. These particular pieces show Buddha with elongated earlobes, indicating that Buddha is “all hearing” – seated in the interlocking lotus position on a wide base. The left palm facing up in a gesture of meditation.
