War Mask
Grebo Tribe.
The Grebo people believe the mask incarnates the spirits of the invisible world that live in the forest. Used at mortuary rituals before and after warfare, these abstract masks were made with many “eyes” to intimidate the enemy. The white clay used represents a “KU” or spirit. Dancers wearing the masks were decorated with it.
