From the meager Montgomery issue of 1861 with only 4, 426 notes issued to the issue of 1864 where 24, 748, 848 notes were issued, Confederate Currency covers a wide spectrum. In supplying the large quantity of paper money required by the Confederacy, not only different papers but many different plates were required to print the notes.
